 +**Update:**
 +
+Happily, on Ubuntu 14.04 some things have changed and now the following commands enable the NVidia card with Nvidia Prime to enable Intel/NVidia switching between logins (**but unfortunately when NVidia is enabled, resume from suspend does not work properly - it gets stuck after resume**: I have not yet figured the cause). Note that the Intel card is still used for arranging outputs via xrandr etc. (the Nvidia card sees just one wide output).

 +    sudo apt-get update
 +    sudo apt-get install nvidia-355 nvidia-prime
 +    sudo reboot
 +
+If installing CUDA 7.5 the recommended version is nvidia-352. Getting CUDA from here should obviate the above step:

 +
+The .deb downloaded sets up the appropriate respositories and all necessary drivers are installed when you install cuda:
 +
 +    sudo apt-get install cuda
