This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus A8Jm laptop. This laptop has quite a good graphics chip in it making 3D gaming an option. Good news is that Linux work very well with the A8Jm.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
Either the Xorg nv module or Nvidia's proprietary one can be used with the graphics chip in this laptop, however if you want 3D support you need the later driver. Our Configuring a nVidia graphics chip guide can be helpful with installation issues for the proprietary module.
Very little work was needed to get linux working on the Asus A8Jm. Most Linux distribution should not have any problems at all here. Opensuse 10.2 seems to run better than Ubuntu 7.04 based distributions.
