Notes

For the graphics chip you can use either the open source radeon driver or ATI's proprietary fglrx driver. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring an ATI graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary driver. Some older versions of X may not have support for the ATI Mobility Radeon x1700, in this case you will need to use the proprietary driver.

Xserver problems & Ubuntu 7.04

by mk-dq, Friday 26 of October, 2007 [13:22:39 UTC]
I have a problem with Xserver on F3Jp with Ati x1700. Xserver fails with all the drivers, even VESA. The same on Ububntu 7.10. Anyone knows what to do or maybe just use gentoo =) ?

I would be very grateful if someone could verify that these two things work properly on Debian/Ubuntu.

Card reader working w/Debian

by rixtertech, Tuesday 17 of July, 2007 [17:02:05 UTC]
I can verify the card reader is working nicely on an F3JP-ASO96C under Debian Etch unstable.

Overall, the laptop is a pleasure. Drawbacks: the power supply gets pretty hot and seems a little flimsy: I would recommend getting a spare. The up arrow is too close to the shift key and causes editing mishaps often.

I'm satisfied with this laptop purchase, after two months.
