Notes

Graphics

Most Linux distributions do not yet support the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600. In this case you will need to install ATI's fglrx module. See our guides section here for installation details.

On some distributions you may have problems installing the OS because of the radeon HD 2600. In this case you will need to do a text based install.

Wireless

The wireless controller uses the Intel iwlwifi module. These modules are included with most recent Linux distributions and is now a standard part of the Linux kernel (as of 2.6.24). Fedora 8 doesn't support this with the standard install but after running a system update it will install kernel 2.6.24 and therefore the required modules.

Summary

The graphics controller is the main issue with Linux on the Asus F8SA. However after some installation work this laptop works just fine.
