Introduction

This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus M6N laptop, model ASM6801N. The M6N is a higher end laptop and includes a good set of specifications. Its Linux support is good when you updates to the latest version of the BIOS.

Notes

The graphics chip will work with either the open source radeon driver or with the proprietary ATI driver. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring an ATI graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary driver.

You will need to upgrade to the latest BIOS version to get ACPI working properly. Older BIOS versions have issues with reporting the battery status among other things.
