Notes

For the ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 in the Asus W2Jc to work you can use either the open source radeon driver or ATI's proprietary fglrx driver. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring an ATI graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary driver.

Currently the audio system in the Asus W2Jc does to work in Linux. There is a bug report at https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2565. Unfortunately this is common with many new notebooks which hopefully will be fixed by a future ALSA/kernel release.

Summary

With the audio issues currently affecting the Asus W2Jc it is not a good choice for Linux. Hopefully future ALSA releases will fix this issue which will make this notebook a good choice.
