This is a guide to running Linux with the BenQ Joybook S53 laptop. The Joybook S53 has a standard set of hardware included making it a middle class laptop. Some sound configuration work may be required in Linux.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
As default the screen on the Joybook S53 has a resolution of 1280×768, however due to the way the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 works this resolution may to work right away. See our Configuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 & 950 guide for more information.
The S53's audio system can been problematic but should work with the lastest version of ALSA. More information on this issue can be found here.
