Introduction

This is a guide to running Linux with the BenQ Joybook S53 laptop. The Joybook S53 has a standard set of hardware included making it a middle class laptop. Some sound configuration work may be required in Linux.

Notes

As default the screen on the Joybook S53 has a resolution of 1280x768, however due to the way the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 works this resolution may to work right away. See our Configuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 & 950 guide for more information.

The S53's audio system can been problematic but should work with the lastest version of ALSA. More information on this issue can be found here.
