Introduction

This is a guide to running Linux with the Fujitsu Lifebook E8210 laptop. The E8210 is quite similar to the Fujitsu Lifebook E8110 laptop except with newer components. Linux support for this laptop is problematic due to the current lack of open source radeon drivers.

Notes

At this time the radeon driver included with most Linux distributions do not support the ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 included in the Lifebook E8210. However support for the x1600 has been added in the current proprietary ATI driver. These drivers will need to be installed for the display to work properly.

Summary

The Fujitsu Lifebook E8210 works fairly well after the proprietary ATI drivers are installed. It is likely that newer Linux distribution will no longer have this issue.
