Introduction

This is a guide to running Linux with the Fujitsu Lifebook S7110 laptop. Fujitsu's Lifebook S7110 laptop is a middle to high end spec machine which has excellent Linux support when used with an up to date distribution.

Notes

The ethernet controller does not function with kernel versions older than 2.6.18. It uses the sky2 driver.

Summary

For the easiest install for the Fujitsu Lifebook S7110 you should use a Linux distribution with kernel 2.6.18 or greater, such as Fedora Core 6. With an up to date Linux distribution this laptop work well with Linux.

Almost Works Great

(Further to my comment below) Actually, sorry, there was two small hiccups which still don't work - the shortcut buttons above the keyboard have never worked and I don't know how to fix it and also switching to a projector screen is buggy.

Works Great

I bought this laptop last year, immediately wiped Windows Vista and did a clean install of Kubuntu 7.10 and since then have switched to Ubuntu 8.04. The hardware all works great with Linux (which I checked out before I bought it).
