Notes

The open source 'nv' driver work fine with the Pavilion dv6000z if you do not require 3D support. NVIDIA's proprietary 'nvidia' driver is needed if you would like to use the 3D functions, have a look at our Configuring a nVidia graphics chip installation guide for more details.

This Broadcom 4311 wireless card in the Pavilion dv6000z does not have any native drivers for Linux. To solve this issue you will need to use the ndiswrapper driver with these windows drivers. For installation instructions on using ndiswrapper you can view our Configuring the ndiswrapper driver guide.

Summary

Unfortunately, because HP use the Broadcom 4311 wireless controller in the Pavilion dv6000z, installing Linux on this laptop can be difficult for inexperienced users.
