For the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics chip in the Pavilion dv8000t you can use either the open source 'nv' driver or NVIDIA's proprietary 'nvidia' driver. There were no problems in getting the HP Pavilion dv8000t working when used with an up to date Linux distribution.
