Notes

For the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 in the Pavilion dv9000t you can use both the open source 'nv' driver and NVIDIA's proprietary 'nvidia' driver. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring a nVidia graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary driver. Some older versions of X may not have support for the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, in this case you will need to use the proprietary driver.

You need to use ALSA version 1.0.13 or greater for the audio system to work on this laptop. However it appears the microphone does not work. You may also need to add the following line to your /etc/modprobe.conf (or your distribution's equivalent) file:
options snd-hda-intel model=hp position_fix=1

Thanks to hogger for the following:
I've got it setup to suspend on lid close and it works fine, and unsuspends when the lid is opened. The battery lasts quite a while, around 2-2.5 hours. This is without dimming the monitor or throttling the CPU. I haven't verified the cpu throttling works, but KDE seems to think it can do it. I suspect the battery would last 3 hours or more if I dimmed the monitor and took the CPU down to 25%. I've got the extra-capacity battery.
