Notes

For full support from the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M in the 8510W you will need to install the proprietary NVIDIA driver.

For best support you should use a Linux distribution which uses at least kernel 2.6.22. Older versions wont support the hardware in this laptop fully.

Summary

The HP 8510W works just fine with a recent Linux distribution. Ubuntu 7.10, Fedora 8 and likely other distributions released around this time frame will work fine.

Works quite alright

I've tried both Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy and both works quite well, although there seems to be some quirks, especially with the light sensor and the volume buttons. Apart from that, everything seems fine.
