This is a guide to running Linux with the Hewlett-Packard nx6320 laptop, model RA763PA. The nx6320 is a mid-high end laptop which unfortunately has audio problems under Linux.

The audio on the nx6320 only appears to work though the headphone jack, not the inbuilt speakers. However the latest version of ALSA (v1.0.11) has a patch for this notebook which may fix this problem, but this has not been tested.
For best results you should use a Linux distribution with kernel 2.6.15 or greater, such as Fedora Core 5 or Ubuntu Linux 6.06, as it includes some fixes for this laptop.
Apart from the audio problem the Hewlett-Packard nx6320 works well under Linux.

Hi,
I've never had a problem with the audio on the laptop running Debian. It's a straightforward Intel HDA chipset and it all just worked for me. Possibly this is because I always build my own kernels with kernel-package from the 'vanilla' Linus ones.
