Acer Aspire 5920

If you have the Acer 5920G and have the ATI HD3470. I can tell you that the default setting for the LCD screen will work fine but you will be surprised with these settings for your Laptop screen, it really changes it from looking stuffy and colour less to bright pin sharp and accurate colour!.

I am using Mint 9 LTS with the Acer 5920G and I can say I'm happy with it. I have tried no other Distros on it and I don't intend until I get a new laptop.

Use the AMD Calalyst Control Center, go to where it says colour and use these settings. You will see a adjustments box this is where you need to change to these settings.

Brightness -28 this is an minus value -
Contrast 132
Saturation 120
Hue Just use the Default setting, No changes 0.

The default settings with the Calalyst Control Center are Crap!

I used my calibration expertise on this, Please give it a try.

You cannot mess it up because you can just click on Default tab.

I have Ubuntu 8.04 on my aspire 5920, but i cant get the speakers to work :(

When i plug in my headphones it works perfectly, but not when I will listen loud from the computer speakers.

Anyone have any ideas?

I am using Acer 5920 laptop.
Recently I installed Ubuntu 9.04, every thing is OK, except,
my Web Camera, is not working, in F-spot it shows no camera detected, and I dont how to use it, but it was being detected in Win Vista, I could take photos, provided by Acer Driver CD.

I could not install any packages from the repositories, it simply give me failure notice, for example, DVD read/write pacakage (libdvdread2,3,4 and etc.)from SPManager.

Please anybody give a solution

I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Acer Aspire 5920 (Vista sux and my HDD crashed, so unbuntu it is). So far, it looks like it's going to work just fine… except for the keyboard. The extreme left side of the keyboard will not work (q,w,a,s,z,x,1,2,`,tab, capslock, shift and ctrl)

Any ideas?

i purchased new acer linux 5920 laptop. but i am unable to open home page.

it is showing and asking for some commands. i took it in india and have one year international traveller warranty. what should i do. i am in Pau in france can i utilise the free services of acer here

I have a problem with the build in mic, and I can not menage to make the bluetooth work.
The rest work excellent!

Can you tell me how can I make my mic to work?
With 8.4 was working fine and now….
Bluetooth never menaged…..and the button next the keyboard does start a different command, every other button work fine.
