As of ubuntu 10.10, everything works out of the box except surround sound (along with subwoofer), the rear right, rear left, centre speaker and subwoofer are detected but sound wont play out of them. You need to download and install drivers from the internet to get them working.

Where could I download these drivers?

Wireless can work if you uninstall Network Manager and installing Wicd Manager, working just typing your settings without any plug-in or driver.

I have a 5930G and sound worked with Ubuntu 9.04. Headphones volume is 'Surround' volume in the Volume Control.

Another issue is that the microphone next to the webcam don't work.

On Fedora 11 it works. You only have to determine if you wan't mic from jack mic or built in mic.

brilliant idea. On my 4. distro and sound is a problem, as well as heat. You can download drivers from realtek and get sound on headphones. Ubuntu requires manual install but suse does it no problem. mepis has graphic problems. 59 minutes until mint is downloaded though. ubuntu runs hot as well.
