The E625 was tested with Ubuntu 9.10.
For best hardware support from the Acer eMachines E625 you should use kernel 2.6.31 or greater such as what is included with Ubuntu 9.10.

i download and convert in to cd and just switch off computer n do on but not running ubuntu its countinning with window vista wat is the provlem plz help me

Ubuntu 9.10 and Ubuntu 10.04 tried in almost 2 years old E625, and works perfect! HDD works, Card reader works, Wireless works, all works! Thanks for eMachines of this computer because it's so perfect to run Linux
i have installed fedora 13 on my acer emachine e625 and my button that turns on & off my wireless wont work my wireless wont cut on please help

Please help - I am going mad trying to connect to my wifi - doesn't seem to matter what I do it still cannot see it. I have Dell's and Mac's running off the same wifi but oh no not this laptop. Anyone got any advice other throwing it out of the window!

a full update found the Ethernet drivers for me (Whooohoo)
I feel your pain I just did the same install and my LAN drivers went poof as well.
The LAN drivers for the E625 are by Atheros and I found some tarballs of Linux drivers on on their website but am not sure what will happen, cross fingers
I installed Ubuntu on my E625 and it ran great. It took me 2-3 days to realise that my ethernet drivers weren't installed however. I've tried to find drivers with little luck. But other than ethernet the machine seems to be working fine.
