I've Ubuntu 9.10 installed on my TM7730. I've put in a “D-Link DFE-690TXD Fast Ethernet cardbus notebook adapter” to have my acer connected to my home network. After boot everything worked just fine without having any additional drivers installed.
Detected / Working after clean install: CPU, Memory, Graphics, HDDs, Bluray (read info, no playback out-of-the-box), USB, USB through Easyport IV (port-replicator), Ethernet, Wireless, Touchpad, Cardreader
Not working (maybe after some digging around) Ethernet through Easyport IV, Build-in Webcam, Fingerprint.
Not tested, nothing to test with: 56k modem, Expresscard, HDMI.
In-all; nice going for clean install, next up is trying to get these things working.

Just a note to let ya know that I'm running the Acer 7730 with a version of ubuntu 8.10 and it has actually worked pretty well. That is wireless, graphics, sound and ethernet all working without a glitch. (and no additional files needed either)
