This is a guide to running Ubuntu Linux 6.06 “Dapper Drake” on the Acer TravelMate C110TCi convertible laptop/tablet pc.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
Needs external CD-ROM drive to boot, or get a 2.5” to 3.5” IDE adaptor and install the laptop hard drive in a spare desktop computer during installation.
Graphics: Work out of the box, and are configured correctly at 1024×768, and can be rotated by altering the “xorg.conf” file (needs to be tested further).
On-board WiFi: Configured correctly using ipw2100 module, but doesn't detect any networks. Hardware could be faulty.
Stylus: Works perfectly, just had to install “wacom-tools” through Synaptic Package Manager and reboot. Text entry can be achieved using GOK (Gnome Onscreen Keyboard).
Keyboard Hotkeys: Simply open a terminal and type “sudo -s” and then “echo acerhk » /etc/modules”, close, and reboot.
