This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus A6Jc laptop. This is a similar laptop to the Asus A6J except it has a NVIDIA graphics chip rather than the ATI chip.

The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 can use either the open source 'nv' module or the proprietary 'nvidia' module from NVIDIA. 3D support requires the usage of the proprietary module.
The wired networking on the Asus A6Jc is supported by the r1000 driver. Most Linux distributions don't have this driver so it will need to be installed manually. You can grab the driver from the Realtek website. However work has begun on the r8169 driver included in the kernel which should support this controller in version 2.6.19.
The Asus A6Jc has issues with its wired network controller but more up to date Linux distributions should take care of that issue. Apart from that the Asus A6Jc works well with Linux.

i have this laptop and i have ubuntu 9.04 on it, beside the camera (it looks on black & white) there are not more problems (at least as i know). i just have one question. how can i install the camera driver to see the camera in colors?
