Nothing really special to report about this laptop. Up to date Linux distributions will support this laptop just fine.
The Asus A8E works just fine with a Linux distribution which is up to date. There were no problems configuring it at all.
Discussion
I'm using asus A8E for business with ubuntu 8.10 and it's running just fine, one curious thing: the laptop is much less noisy running linux, still it appears faster compared to pre-installed Windows Vista.
I just get one “bad” message in dmesg, after a couple of hours running:
ACPI: EC: missing confirmations, switch off interrupt mode.
But I'm still looking around to understand what it means, apprentely everything is working fine.
