Notes

Installed Distro: openSUSE 11.1 - 32 bit / Kernel: 2.6.27.21.0.1-pae i686 currently running KDE 4.2.2 as Windowmanager. Desktop effects working (Cube).
Setting up a dual booting system with XP home via grub was easy. Minor problems with the fixed size of certain windows not displaying fully in 1024×600 (Amarok 1.4.10 configuration e.g). Other than that, no showstoppers found. There is an EEEPc related Repository for open SuSE 11.1 here:

Summary

I'm impressed with the battery and the relative ease of installation (used a bootable USB Stick to install).

hi, harry, the wireless work well in my Eee PC 1000 HE with ubuntu , but just remind that the wireless does not support WEP 64 bit very well. I used ubuntu 9.04 before , and linux deepin ( a customized ubuntu 9.12) now.

I installed ubuntu 9.10 nbr to but my wireless does not work. After install you notice all the issues and fixes, but as far as I know they require hacking around in Terminal. I'm not a real advanced nerd so that means no ubuntu and a couple of wasted days…
Maybe suzy is better…

Hi On my eeepc all worked outofthebox, really! But I turned over to xp cause of the longer batterie life and easier handling (for me) Therefore i use xpud 0.92 on a sd card to boot within the boot menu… that rocks!

I installed ubuntu 9.10 nbr (netbook release) and all worked out of the box. Function keys, webcam, bluetooth, wlan, sound.
Further I tried xpud 0.9 (latest at google code) with wlan WPA encryption. And: MacPup latest distro (I try to get all working this time)

So long, lecheee ;-)
