This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus F3JV laptop. The F3JV has some impressive specifications.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
For the graphics chip you can use both the open source nv module and Nvidia's proprietary one. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring a nVidia graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary module. Some older versions of X may not have support for the Nvidia GeForce Go 7600, in this case you will need to use the proprietary module.
There were no problems getting it working. With older Linux distributions the graphics card and sound card may not be supported, so it is recommended a current distribution is used.
