This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus F3Sc laptop. The model of the F3Sc tested here is a low to mid range laptop featuring the Santa Rosa chipset.

Xorg does not yet support the Geforce 8400 found on the F3Sc so you will need to use the proprietary nvidia module for the display to work correctly. Installation instructions for the nvidia driver can be viewed here.
Card reader Standard SDHCI, modules sdhci ed mmc_core. With kernel 2.6.23 only SD works.
The F3Sc laptop uses the Intel 4965AGN wireless controller. This works with the iwlwifi drivers although these drivers are currently very difficult to install. Some Linux knowledge is definitely required here. Updated: Newer Linux distributions include this driver so this configuration step is not required.
Linux knowledge is required to get the wireless and display controllers working properly under Linux. However once this has been achieved the Asus F3Sc works well.

OpenSuSe 11.0
Everything is ok and was detected automatically… I just had to download the Nvidia driver, that the OpenSuSe itself has the “one-click installation”
Slackware
I'm using Slackware 12.1 and everything is working. The drivers already came installed, I've just downloaded the 173.14.05 nvidia driver on the nvidia site, which worked without problems.
I didn't test the webcam but nothing that the gspca driver can't do ;)
Everything works fine, with default ubuntu gusty and hardy. Modem works also! but I had some trouble with PCMCIA, but now it's working :) I love linux! xDD
i'm using gentoo with latest kernel, “everything” works good :)
i've used ubuntu 8.04 alpha latest, it was same, good.. :)
snd-hda-intel
For audio you need to add option model=lenovo ex:
modprobe snd-hda-intel model=lenovo
or in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base add the row:
options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo
