This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Asus F3Sg laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
Recommended dist for Asus F3Sg is Ubuntu 8.4.1 or OpenSuse 11.0 . Debian 4.0r5 Etch is not recommended , I have many problem with distro (not suported Ethernet, WIFI, graphic card[…] ) You will need at least kernel 2.6.22 for this laptop. Older kernels will have issues with the wired and wireless network.

Hello there, I've reinstalled the linux inside on this notebook and now i can make the camera and the bluetooth to work. Can you help me with some kind of drivers or something. That I know is that the notebook is knowing them as a software not like a hardware. Even now i can find any drivers or hints about it.

Hi, I installed openSUSE 11.1 on a laptop like this. Everithig works fine but the webcam. With uvcvideo the picture is flipped, while with syntek driver (stk11xx-kmp-default-1.4.0_2.6.27.19_3.2-2.1.x86_64.rpm) nothing happened. There was not even /dev/video0. According to the dmesg, the module (stk11xx) loaded. Could you tell me how you installed the driver? Thanks. Krisztian
