Pretty much everything works out of the box for Gnome Ubuntu 9.10+, Linux Mint and Fedora. Haven't checked good enough with KDE. What does not work is:

1. Audio won't work for headphones and mic. Even if you plug the headphones the main speakers won't mute and there'll be nothing in headphones.
Workaround - in the file ”/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf” add “options snd-hda-intel model=dell-vostro” (instead of “dell-vostro” “ideapad” works as well; also there's option with “xolaptop” or something, sorry, I've forgot).

2. The webcam is usually flipped, e.g. the picture is upside-down. For Windows the manufacturer provides a driver. As for Linux a good person named Hans de Goede provides a solution. Just google it.
