This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Asus F81Se laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
This page is just for discussing using Linux on the Asus F81Se. For a general discussion about this laptop you can visit the Asus F81Se page on LapWik.
You can run Ubuntu on this notebook, but you must disable the ACPI, seems like only Debian and OpenSuse(haven;t tried Fedora) have the driver for the ACPI, Ubuntu drop the support for the ACPI starting from 10.04
Debian lovers? you are in luck Ubuntu lovers? just forget it… it is pain in the ass to disable the ACPI everytime you reboot except if you modified the grub configuration, but the side effect is your notebook will drain battery faster

If you have a F81S Laptop (like I do)
Do this:
Go to bios >
Security> I / O interface Security> “New interface card” or so. Set it to locked
