The things need to be configured are: sound card and video adapter. To get sound card working create file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base with contents: options snd-hda-intel model=g71v
To install ATI Catalyst driver from repositories, enable nonfree and nonfree-updates repositories, and install package xorg-x11-drv-fglrx. This driver has the bug, which hangs the system when using fast user switching in gdm. To disable fast user switching, rename file /usr/bin/gdmflexiserver.
Wireless works, but have not been sufficiently tested, because there are too few WiFi access points in Belarus. Conclusion: this laptop is in general compatible with Linux.
