Notes

Everything seems to work out of the box with Gentoo 10.0 but the keyboard lights, the screen dimming and the Fn hotkeys.
To have all the previously mentioned things working it is required to install a kernel version 2.6.39 or superior with asus-wmi drivers built-in or as a module.

Summary

This laptop runs great with linux. Everything is supported, but some things may have to be configured by hand.

Suspend function freezes laptop; monitor brightness adjustments work only with some kernels; WiFi is slow (ath9k bug?); closing the lid freezes laptop; SD card reader requires kernel 3.2+

I've tried many custom kernels and still have issues.

All working great…but sometimes keyboard is not working at all booting linux.
Booting windows never happened this issue.

ALMOST everything runs great. In addition to what is written above, I must say that the USB3 port does not recognize any device that is plugged in, eitherUSB3 or USB2.
