This is a guide to running Linux with the Asus L5D laptop. The L5D uses an AMD processor, one of only a few. Linux support is not great as this laptop needs to use ndiswrapper.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.

For the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5650 you can use either the open source 'nv' or NVIDIA's 'nvidia' driver with the nvidia driver being needed for 3D support. The Configuring a nVidia graphics chip guide can be followed for installation instuctions.
NDISwrapper is required for the Broadcom BCM4306 wireless controller to function with Linux. For further installation instruction you can view our ndiswrapper guide which is available here. The driver to use with ndiswrapper is located on the Asus website.

Firewire, sdreader, pcmcia remain untested/not working.
The wireless controller is an issue with the Asus L5D. It requires ndiswrapper and therefore configuration is fairly tricky. Other components work fine with Linux.
