Hi, I have problem with ambient sensor light. I want to switch it off, because when I work in some poorly lighted place, sensor light reduces the brightness of screen and it becomes virtually black. On windows, function keys (ctrl+a) turn sensor light on/off succesfully, but on Linux it doesn't work.
Hi, I have Asus M50vc, but there is a problem with my CD ROM which is not working properly! I can not mount the volume, I can not use it at all. The drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N. Another problem is the multimedia touch pad, which is not working as well. The other hardware seams to work just fine.
If anyone knows how to make this CD ROM working, please let me know.
Thanks

could anyone tell me where is this 'compatibility' of BIOS option located ? I can find it and my optical drive doesn`t want to work properly… for example I tried to make a ISO image of DVD and I successfully made it but after that my drive doesn`t want to go out… I push the button and drive does not react at all, though it works perfectly until I try to do anything with any kind of DVD disc

Fingerprint reader (ID 08ff:1600 AuthenTec, Inc.) works, use the fprint software - http://reactivated.net/fprint/wiki/Main_Page
I can assure you that the wireless card works properly on linux (ubuntu distribution 8.10 version), as well as bluetooth.
Bye.
