ACPI: As of this writing, ACPI is TERRIBLE. To get the system to boot at all (even LiveCDs, and even so, some don't work still) you must disable acpi (acpi=off) OR disable mtrr (somewhere in the kernel config, just search for it). With mtrr disabled (credit to rainy_day from the asus forums for turning mtrr off), acpi partially works, and I can see my battery life and status (enable the Asus acpi driver in the kernel config), but the battery only lasts just over an hour (it lasts over twice that in Vista). Something may be figured, and I will update accordingly.
