Most Linux distribution do not support the NVIDIA Geforce 8600M in the Asus V1S. You will need to install the proprietary NVIDIA drivers for the display to function properly. Future Linux distributions will solve this issue for 2D but the Nvidia drivers will still be needed for 3D.
Installing the Nvidia drivers is the only task that needs to be preformed for a properly working setup on the Asus V1S.
Discussion
The Card-Reader is not abel to read xD Memory Cards.
For sound add “options snd_hda_intel model=lenovo” in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

everything works great - except sound - the usual problem - sound is coming from both built in speakers and headphones
