This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Dell Latitude XT laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
The XT is near to be fully supported for a Debian system from this page. The only limit is the touch screen fully uncompatible with fingers under linux.
Linux is not the most confortable system yet for tablet PC. But it's so nice to have it with a pen. And Wine helps well to use some confortable pen applications.

Just wanted to chime in here with my experience. I just purchased a refurbished latitude xt and installed Fedora 14 on it. Right out of the box (with no customization) the touch screen worked perfectly. The stylus also works perfectly with the touch screen as well (including the pen buttons). By far one of the easiest experiences I've had setting up a new system with Linux.

My dell XT has a Broadcom BCM4321 ABGN chipset. I finally got the wifi to work by using the Broadcom prop drivers found at http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
