just bought this laptop. display i have is `WXGA+ (1440×900) Wide Screen with TrueLife` + 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS.

dunno why, but on all linuxes i tried (ubuntu, debian, arch, fedora) displays refresh rate is really bad. i can see that 3d acceleration works perfect, but display cant draw it all.

nvidia detects vertrefresh 60, horizsync: 30-75.

@gnome Display Prefs it says i have 50Hz display!!!
tried a lot in xorg.conf, but no success.

has anyone have similar problem?

I solved the problem guys;
Once boot Pardus, open the console,
be root, then type “modprobe wl” to console.
Of course wireless device must be powered before.

Pardus has the driver but not loaded carefully. (Check PISI)
Maybe somebody knows how to put “modprobe wl” command to the start up.
Good luck.

I ordered a new vostro 1720 last saturday. I am planning to install the latest ubuntu release on top of this notebook. I'll let you know if I see any problems at all.

Cagatay, I think you need to ask Pardus guys for the device driver updates. Maybe they have already sorted that issue in their patches, etc.

cheers,
ercan

Everything works fine out of the box with Ubuntu 9.10 but the bluetooth.

If the network manager does not let you enable wireless. You need to get the latest bios from dell - theres a bug in the older bios. Versions A03 and up have this issue resolved.

I have installed pardus 2009 on this laptop.
I have a problem about wi-fi. It doesn't work.
Once I activate the wi-fi card, there writes a notice “Broadcom undefined activated”
I was have Dell inspiron 6000 and older pardus versions have no problem with it.
What should I do ?
