Tested with Ubuntu 10.10.
So far this laptop seems to be a perfect Linux laptop. No additional drivers needs to be installed to get basic function to work.

Sorry for wakeing an old thread.
Has anyone noticed that in X the keyboard Return key is actually mapped to keypad Return key which mess up some window managers who creates new terminals with modkey + Return. Even trying to remap it with xmodmaps - “keycode 104 = Return” doesn't solve the issue. Have anyone else encountered this problem?
Of course remapping through the window manager is a solution, but I like to have the keymappings as they should be.
So far as I can see, this is the only thing that doesn't work for me with this laptop.

Great to hear that it works! On a different matter, have you had any problems with your wireless card since upgrading to the latest kernel? Especially during heavy work load?
I have had success with everything on this gem of a laptop except for the SPDIF out which I haven't had the possibility to test. I got the webcam working by using this guide: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_build_from_Mercurial
yes. everything is working for me (kubuntu 8.10) except the web cam. did anyone find a way to get it working?
Installed ubuntu 8.10 (64 bit), webcam not working (ekiga gives me a green lined picture but i see myself moving, weird) no drivers etc. available now, cardreader working, eseta not tested, screen works fine no problems, wlan works but the networkmanager plugin does not work correct if the wlan hardware button is used.
ubuntu 8.10 works on Amilo 2636
Have just installed 8.10 on the Amilo 2636 and sound, graphics, wireless, usb and touchpad worked out of the box. Yet to test card-reader and webcam but insofar very good results. As stated no additional drivers to get the basic functionality. It does seem to run a bit hotter compared to xp. CPU usage on system monitor reports nothing out of the ordinary.
Hardware tests found in System → Administration → Hardware test reports full compatibility.
In other words: Good stuff
