This is a guide to running Linux with the Fujitsu Lifebook P7010 laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
For some old linux distributions (notably those that ship with intel drivers older than 2.0), some extra steps are required to set a native resolution for the display. As default the native screen resolution of this notebook is 1280×768, but that particular resolution is not to be found in the Video BIOS. To get it working you will need to install the 915resolution program and type in: 915resolution 3c 1280 768 This will then allow you to use the native 1280×768 resolution. However this setting will be forgotten after each boot so you will need a way to automatically run this command at every boot. Fortunately most Linux distributions come with the 915resolution program and include a simple way of achieving this
Pterjan from Mandriva staff tried to make it (sdricho_cs) work on my P7010 (1.2Ghz-1Go Cache, 80Go HD) without any success during an install party (with Mandriva 2009.0). As i can remember, one of the problems was SD card insertion wasn't detected… Too bad.
With Mandriva 2009.0 everything else work just FINE !

sdricoh_cs again
I think the information on the sdricoh_cs module is wrong and should be changed in the matrix. I while back, I exchanged some emails with the developer of that module, and we were unsuccessful in getting it to work.

sdricoh_cs module
I can build the module (gentoo 2.6.26 tuxonice kernel) just fine. I modprobed sdhci and then sdricoh_cs and inserted an sd card - the hard drive worked for a second but no /dev/sd? was added. Is there some trick to this :)

sdricho_cs driver did not work for me
Everything else works under ubuntu on the P7010. Would be interested in hearing from anyone that managed to get the sdricho driver to work…
