Introduction

This is a guide to running Linux with the HP Pavilion dv9700t laptop. Thank you to David P. Powell for these details. This laptop was tested with the 64-bit edition of Ubuntu 8.04.

Notes

General

Both procs were recognized immediately and show up separately in the Gnome system monitor. I haven't tested writing discs in the LightScribe yet.

Graphics

The display worked at full res from first boot. I needed to install the proprietary NVIDIA driver to get the desktop effects & Compiz working correctly.

Summary

No special configs required during install. The HP Pavilion dv9700t works just fine with Linux.
