This is a guide to running Linux with the IBM-Lenovo ThinkPad Z61t laptop. The ThinkPad Z61t from Lenovo is a lower end laptop but with a large screen. Linux support on the Z61t is excellent.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
As default the screen resolution of the ThinkPad Z61t is 1280×768 but because of the way the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 functions this resolution isn't available right away. For a method to resolve this issue you can view our Configuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 & 950 guide.
After a small amount of configuration work the IBM-Lenovo ThinkPad Z61t has no problems at all with Linux. The hardware inside the Z61t is well supported.

just installed ubuntu on my Z61t - so far all works well with the exception of the built in web-cam. I'm impressed… but will continue to test devices. Wireless worked seamlessly.
