Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) amd64: Graphic acceleration (needed for compiz visual effects) requires a proprietary nvidia driver; this is downloaded and installed automatically when effects are switched on. Wireless networking (Intel 1510), webcam, and sound all work with no modification. Suspend and hibernate both work. Multitouch (for two-finger scrolling) does not work. I have not yet tested the card reader or expresscard slot.
I've had this laptop for awhile now. I almost hate it – Random lockups since I got it. gpe storms always (maybe the battery status) causing all sorts of weird side effects. All in all - for me the fact that it seems to run stable is the worst part.

I have Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit with this(Ideapad Y550) laptop. Could anybody help to get Bluetooth drivers?

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y550 that I chose to run Ubuntu on instead of Vista that came with it. With two exceptions I've been very happy with the way Ubuntu runs on this machine.
1.) When I first migrated to Ubuntu from Vista I had the bluetooth disabled, and once Ubuntu was up and running there was no way to enable bluetooth. After much research, trial, and error the only solution I could find was to reinstall Vista, enable the bluetooth, and reinstall Ubuntu. The Vista reinstall was a colossal pain due to the nature of the One Key recovery discs (they don't reformat the drive: I had to borrow a Vista installation disc and format the drive and then run the recovery discs). After all that, the Bluetooth now works fine on Ubuntu.
2.) After that debacle I installed Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64 (was running 10.04 AMD64 prior to this with no problems), and I have had problems with it freezing ever since. The screen locks up, but I can still move the cursor. The only solution is a hard reset with the power button (none of the typical key combinations work). I tried switching to 10.10 i386 with a physical address extension and it still freezes. On a small but annoying side note , I still get sound from the speakers when I plug in my headphones, and I have to go into the sound settings and manually switch the output to headphones. I'm going to reinstall 10.04 AMD64 since I never had any problems with it (hopefully the bluetooth isn't causing the freezes) and see what happens.

I use a lenovo ideapad y550 with an i5 cpu(it brings a small grafic-chip) and ati grafics…
everything works with kubuntu 10.10, I just dont have drivers for the switchable grafic-thing. :(
Wlan and bluetooth worked as soon as the OS was installed and the connection configured.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 on a Ideapad Y550. My wireless constantly disconnects at random time interval. How can I fix this? Anyone has a clue? Does it has something to do with the “tg3 module”? I have installed the Intel Wifi Link 5100 agn driver for Linux.
