running debian squeeze 64bit with a 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 kernel

every thing worked out of the box with the exception of the original wifi card (intel 802.11 bgn - rtl8192/r8192S), it was a POS and only sort of worked after compiling the driver, replaced it with an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN (bought it on ebay for @ $40). it started working as soon as i installed it and rebooted, works 1000 times better then the original card.

following stuff worked out of the box:
web cam - yes
trackpoint - yes
usb ports - yes
ethernet - yes
wifi - see above
pcexpress card slot - yes
sd card reader - yes
bluetooth - yes
fn keys - yes
sound - yes
mute key - yes

following stuff worked with minor tweaking:
volume up
volume down

following not tested
modem

battery life (9 cell) between 6 and 8 hours.

excellent machine for debian, i purchased it new on ebay with no os (no windows coa), i have no intention of ever installing windows.

Hi Joshua,

Given you've already worked this out, it would be good if you could post how you did this, or give some links.

Regards,
Patrick

I just bought one and it's GREAT. I use Ubuntu Jaunty on it.

I had a bit of trouble getting the sound to work, but with a simple hack it works fine - you'll have to Google a bit.

To make OpenGL work (3d acceleration), you'll have to install a couple of packages (one was a python opengl interface, I don't remember the other. Try using the 3d interface of the Gnome Chess game, it will tell you.)

Battery life seems to be a lot longer than it tells me, YMMV.

Otherwise everything seems to be great.
