This is about compatibility of the LG X120-G with Linux (for a prospective buyer who is not sure whether he can run Linux on it). I've used Xubuntu 9.10 alongside Windows XP and the LG Smart On splashtop OS.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
Works perfectly in skype/cheese/ffmpeg - uses uvcvideo driver
VGA Output
Yes
Dual Screen tested with external Dell 1730FP - works
Microphone
Not Tested
S-Link
Not Tested
Suspend to RAM
Yes
Both suspend and hibernate work out of the box and I can't see any side-effects
Suspend to DISK
Yes
Volume Keys
Yes
Fn + left/right - works
The brightness Fn keys work - the user-defined Fn + F1/F2 do nothing.
I've not been fiddling with the other Fn combinations yet. Further updates when that happens. There is plenty yet to test but since there was essentially no info on this netbook online, I figured I'd start.
For the webcam to work with cheese, hald needs to be running. vlc can open it as a capture device without this - I've yet to try it with skype.
