This is a guide to running Linux with the Toshiba Qosmio G50 laptop. The G50 is a very large and powerful notebook with a good high resolution screen.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
Tested with Mandriva 2009.1. Required update to the proprietary nVidea driver in order to display video properly. Update of the video driver disabled touchpad scrolling in the xorg.conf configuration file, but was easily restored by copying back the appropriate Synaptics touchpad lines from the xorg.conf.backup created.
Linux on the Toshiba Qosmio G50 is well supported, and once the video driver was updated, runs perfectly. No other issues were encountered with the installation of Linux on the G50.
