This is a guide to running Linux with the Toshiba Satellite A55 laptop. The A55 is Toshiba's low end laptop with basically the bare essentials included.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
I'm able to boot the official, pressed Ubuntu 9.04 Live CD on this laptop just fine, but since the DVD drive is failing, I'm having a lot of trouble booting a Mint 7 CD that I burned myself.
Booting this laptop to a USB drive seems all but impossible.
