This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop.
This page is just for discussing using Linux on the Toshiba Satellite L500. For a general discussion about this laptop you can visit the Toshiba Satellite L500 page on LapWik.
I specifically have the Satellite L500/01R notebook.
Mandriva is my choice of distro. Had to install the 32-bit version of Mandriva 2010.0 because I could not get the 64-bit driver for the wireless LAN working (RTL8192E).
For wireless, I'm using the ndiswrapper with the driver found here.
Have not tested the following (will edit this page if/when I do): * card reader (5 in 1) * bluetooth (PA3608U-1BTM) * HDMI
Thank you very much to the the writter of those indications, I could'nt connect to wireless networks before, but I installed the driver and know it's working perfectly even on 64-bit setting.

I've installed successfully on Backtrack 4 which is based on the Ubuntu kernel, wireless driver for Ubuntu can be found here “https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Device/Realtek%208172” (you'll have to copy/paste that link) all other devices working perfectly.
