As standard the screen resolution of the Satellite M55 is 1280×768, however due to the way the Graphics Media Accelerator 900 functions this resolution would not be usable right away. You can read our Configuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 & 950 guide for more information about this.
Being a Centrino based machine, the Toshiba Satellite M55 is a well supported system with no difficulties in installing Linux.
