This is a guide to running Linux with the Toshiba Satellite M65 laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
As standard the screen resolution of the M65 is 1400×900. However due to the how the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 works this resolution would not be usable until the 915resolution program is used. You can view our Configuring the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 & 950 guide for more information on the 915resolution program.
From Juergen: “The internal modem also works, using the commercial driver from www.linuxant.com. I tried hsfmodem-7.60.00.02. It is important to have the sound-driver compiled as module (snd_hda_intel), or else the modem driver will NOT work.
The tpm gets recognized using the module tpm_tis , but I was not able to get ownership from within linux. Perhaps someone else has an idea how to use it…”
