While you can use the open source 'nv' module with the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900GTX, it is recommended you use the proprietary 'nvidia' module as this will give you 3D support. For more details about the nvidia driver you can view our Configuring a nVidia graphics chip guide.
At this time the audio system in the P100 does not function in Linux. There is a bug report about this at https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2174. This is a common problem with newer notebook which we hope that future ALSA releases will fix.
The Toshiba Satellite P100 with its audio problem is not a good laptop to use Linux. Hopefully this issue will be fixed shortly and bring out the full potential of the P100.

I can report that sound works fine on Ubuntu 11.10 with my P100-429. Which it doesn't do on Windows 7 on the same machine.
The video is not great though, there are occasional flickers under GNU/Linux that Windows doesn't suffer from (so probably not hardware…). I've tried several different versions of the NVIDIA drivers with no difference.
the “slight” dsdt fix doesn´t work for me and from what i´ve seen around it doesn´t work for a lot more people. So “no” still applies.
Actually the alsa sound driver does work, it just needs a slight fix to the acpi machine code.
