This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Toshiba Satellite P300D-P305D laptop.
This guide is intended to provide you details on how well this laptop works with Linux and which modules you need to configure. For details on how to actually install and configure the required modules have a look at our guides section for distribution specific instructions.
I am thinking about installing Fedora 10 on a P305D w/ 4GB RAM. I wonder if there will be any trouble with the wifi?

I didn't have any problems with the wifi adapter (Mine's the x64 version).

Can´t run Ubuntu 8.10 or any Distri with kernel 2.6.26 on Satellite P300D. Because of the two built in graphic adapters X won`t start. Only Ubuntu 8.04 and elive gem seem to work out of the box right now. Also tried Suse 11.1 and Mandriva one 2009. P.S.: to the poster above me: Could you please specify how you got Ubuntu 8.10 to work on P300 (I`m talking about P300D-150 with Radeon Mobility HD3470…)

I just installed OpenSuse 11.1 on this laptop.
It is important to check i think F5 while in the opening screen before you press install and setting the Kernel to NOACPI. If you do that it installs fine.
If you want to make the system dual bootable:
I suggest running vista first / create the recovery disks and then running some sort of partition manager to keep the C: and D: drive if you want to make the system dual bootable. D: contains the recovery dvd's so you might want to keep that as apparently you can press F8 in the bios boot screen and it will restore the standard automatically. Vista will have to be shutdown normally, not in hibernate or hard powerdown mode before installing linux otherwise it will fail.
