I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on this particular model, and it works perfectly out of the box. Once Ubuntu is installed, it will then ask if you want to download the proprietary ATI drivers, which, again, work perfectly.
I also attempted openSUSE 11.4 last week…this one was not so good. I had to tweak the video settings before running the install, otherwise the installer crashed out. Also, there's no inherent support for the wireless drivers, and after a few hours of searching the internet, I didn't come across any either.
